About Me
Why Did I Become a Counsellor?
If you had met me a few years ago, on the surface, I was a successful Project Leader in medical research who lived to solve problems and beat deadlines; however, underneath, I was dealing with unresolved trauma, grief, and caregiver burnout.
Counselling freed me to be true to my bold and creative self. Through counselling I realized that my purpose in life is to be of service. My transformation reminded me of the metamorphosis of a butterfly, from the constriction of chrysalis to freedom. My metamorphosis motivated me to pursue a master’s degree in counselling.
Who Am I As a Counsellor?
I am attuned and observant. I sense what is underneath the surface. I see you in your wholeness; your strengths, challenges, and beliefs, as well as your spiritual, and cultural needs. I continually seek knowledge to improve myself as a human being and as a counsellor.
My Counselling Philosophy
I see counselling as the facilitation of metamorphosis from distress to freedom. The five steps to the metamorphosis are:
Taking the first step to contact a counsellor
Mindfully observing what surfaces in sessions
Curiously exploring your insights
Uncovering what gives purpose to your life
Acting in alignment with your values
