My Approach

I provide holistic mental health support by employing a variety of evidence-based therapies that are customized to your unique needs.

My goal is to support you by understanding your unique needs for personal growth through counselling. Beyond what is on the surface, I want to understand the root cause of your distress to catalyze your metamorphosis.

Suppressed Emotions

I am especially interested in suppressed emotions.

Many of us are familiar with the sayings “don’t rock the boat”, and “sweeping it under the rug”. Suppressing emotions can be exhausting.

I believe that mindfully observing emotions and exploring them can provide insights that are important for emotional healing and self-discovery. I have seen that when my clients begin to express themselves genuinely, the people in their lives also transform in response to my clients’ transformation.

I welcome your emotions no matter how big or intense they are. As a trauma-informed counsellor, I am attuned to you to ensure that you are emotionally regulated during sessions.

Understanding Generational Influence

Intergenerational trauma and childhood trauma, if untended, can create chronic distress. I incorporate genograms to help you understand the patterns of trauma passed down through generations, which can be powerful in healing from intergenerational trauma as well as exploring attachment wounds as part of healing from childhood trauma.

Culturally-Sensitive Counselling

Our cultural ancestry is an important part of our being. Many cultures have experienced traumatic events spanning generations. Many of us are immigrants ourselves, or raised by immigrants who experienced trauma and had no means to heal from it. Therefore, I am interested in the influence of your culture on your mental health. It is an important part of seeing you in your wholeness.

False Narratives

We tell stories to make meaning of our experiences. Exploring the stories we tell ourselves and identifying the false narratives can help us attain a balanced perspective that can set us free.

Through mindful observation and curious exploration, it is possible for you to transform your suffering to wisdom, freedom, and a purposeful life.
